Siblings

I have been so busy lately with the new "kids" and school and everything else a mom does that I haven't had time to blog much. But this picture has such a great story to go with it... First it was a normal day here at the Sturzoo. At least normal in a Sturza kinda way. I am doing my usual piddln' around busy work. I notice the children are all silent with a giggle here and there. I sit back and enjoy the quiet. Then I notice the children are all starting to giggle more..... But this time with whispers involved. I slowly sneak around the corner and lo' and behold, this is what I saw...... Little Shi with a rope tied around her and a scarf around her mouth. Of course the only thing I could thing of at that moment was "What have you boys done?" The boys start saying "she wanted us to do it." Then I realize she is laughing as well.... Of course I notice the shirt say "Daddy's Girl" on it. So I thought what a perfect blog title... The Boys jealious of Shi because she is Daddy's little girl.... I tried to work it out that way but as you can tell Shiloh is cracking up so that didn't work. Since they were all having fun it worked out in the end. But can you imagine what I was thinking when I walked around the corner and saw her standing there like that..... The Princess is caught.. They captured her..... Anywho I got a good laugh and so did John. However, we put the ropes where they are suppose to be OUTSIDE!!!! And made a new rule of no tying sister up.... Or anyone or anything for that matter..... God Bless!!!!

  2. makes me think of my favorite bible story about Joseph! (luckily your story was done all in love!)
thanks for your comments! good to hear from you again! I can't believe how "deer like" goats are! Do you let them run around at all to eat the weeds and whatever? I'm trying to work that one out right now--I don't want them to be penned up and I'd love them to graze while I'm out there I just wouldn't want them to be like "hurray we're free!" and take off! We tried it for about 5 min then I started to get nervous and got the grain out so they'd go in their pen again. But really for the most part they were just grazing and eating the weeds. we've got one that is such a love too--the other one is real nice but very skiddish

  3. Ah yes - my rascals never fail to remind me that I missed out on such sibling adventures since I was an only child! What fun you'll have when you look back on these posts in the years to come! Kids today grow up much too quickly so yours are very blessed to be truly enjoying childhood.

  4. I started letting my goats out everyday and I am their little shepherd too! If I walk away they come running after me! Just like you said! The first time I noticed it, it made me think of the verse, "I am the good shepherd, my sheep hear my voice and follow me"
The only thing making it not work so well was our dog was always trying to play with them and freaking them out so I just locked her in there with them and she totally got over it and was like wow they really arn't that interesting so now we can all be out together and it's no big deal!
As for Easter we don't do the wordly stuff either. For our family we don't like the idea of lying to the kids about santa and the bunny--it just seems different than playing pretend with them--like if my 3 yr old daughter "bakes" me "cookies" and I say "wow, they are SO good!" we both know that they are not really there...but as for santa and the e. bunny...she would really think they are real...so that's why we don't partake in that aspect--but as for the eggs--that seems harmless enough as long as it's not a distraction--maybe it would be better done on the day before easter or after.--if I were to dye the eggs I'd probably look for all natural egg dyes just being the girl that I am so the eggs would be good to eat still. And we won't do the easter baskets easter morning with all the candy--we don't give the kids processed sugar but I guess I could fill them with healthy sweets but it's just another thing I don't care to take the time to do and they don't know the difference!
that is another nice thing about homeschooling or having little kids--they have NO expectations about what a holiday is supposed to be like, huh! Like today was my son's 2nd bday and he didn't even know or care of course! We had a little family party and gave him 1 gift and he had a blast. The whole bday party lasted all of 20min and then it was time for a nap! My kind of party!
As for us--we kind of started a tradition where we do passover type things--we try and celebrate easter like Jesus was doing it the night before he died. I went out and bought some lamb and I'll probably make unleavened bread. I got some grape juice too. That's always a special treat! In years past I've bought the matza ball soup mix from the grocery store--it's easy and yummmy. I like to throw in my own chopped up veggies (Carrots, celery, onions). My H will probably read the easter story And we'll go to church too. we probably won't do eggs ourselves though--only because I don't care that much too and again, the kids won't know the difference! I do know our local health food store is holding an egg hunt on Sat. and another church is having a carnival and egg hunt easter day...so those are possibilities. What about you--what kinds of easter traditions have you done in the past with your kids?
